The webcam test shows what your camera really delivers in the browser: the live picture, its resolution, and the reported and measured frame rate. It works with a laptop camera, an external webcam and the front or back camera of a phone. With more than one camera, switch between them, or take a photo to judge sharpness up close. If the picture looks soft or choppy, the numbers show whether the resolution or the frame rate is to blame.
The test can’t judge the lens (dirt or focus) or how a call app compresses video, so the numbers describe this camera in this browser. The video stays on your device.
